About the project
It all started when I visited an animal shelter and saw countless adorable pets in need of a loving home. As an animal lover, I was compelled to do something to help. But I quickly realized that the traditional process of pet adoption was outdated and often confusing.
That's when I had the idea to create PetHaven: a mobile app that would make pet adoption simple, convenient, and enjoyable for everyone involved. This mobile app is designed to connect people looking to adopt a pet with their perfect furry friend, while also making the adoption process easy and enjoyable.

This is an individual project that allowed me to plan and direct each step of the design thinking process as a UX designer with mobile and web UI design experience.
Responsibilities:
Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, iterating on designs and responsive design.

Many potential pet adopters in Lagos, Nigeria face challenges in finding animal shelters or rescue organizations.

Research Process
To better understand potential users of the PetHaven mobile app, I interviewed 10 individuals. These interviews aimed to gather insights on their experiences with existing pet adoption apps, identify pain points, and gather suggestions for improvement. It became clear that smartphone users are the primary target audience for the app.

How familiar are you with pet adoption apps?.
What features do you find most important in a pet adoption app?
Have you ever used a pet adoption app before? If yes, which one and what was your experience like?
What challenges or difficulties have you encountered when using pet adoption apps?
Can you suggest any improvements or additional features that you would like to see in a pet adoption app?

Some participants were familiar with pet adoption apps, while others were not.

Empathy map
Empathy mapping helps us understand our users' needs and emotions to create a visually appealing and delightful user experience. By considering what catches their attention, evokes emotions, guides their actions, and communicates the brand's identity, we can design visually engaging and intuitive products that resonate with them.
Competitive Analysis
By conducting a competitive analysis, you can gain valuable insights that help you make informed decisions, refine your business strategy, and stay ahead in the market. It helps you understand the competitive landscape, benchmark your performance, and identify areas for improvement and differentiation
User Persona
Creating user personas allows us to better understand our target audience's needs, preferences, and emotions. By identifying their goals, pain points, motivations, and behaviors, we can design products that cater to their specific needs.
User Flow
We have identified the main tasks users will perform in the app and mapped out the steps they will take to complete each task. We have also considered any decision points or alternative paths they may encounter along the way.
Conceptualization and Sketching
we utilized sketching as a rapid means to visualize and shape the product concept. This allowed us to quickly iterate on ideas, providing a tangible overview of how the product would take form and a rough representation of the envisioned concepts.
Digital Wireframes
By creating digital wireframes, I was able to enhance the visualization of the user experience for the pet adoption app. Incorporating interactivity and animations in the wireframes simulated the end result, allowing for a more immersive and engaging representation of the app's functionality.
I use paper wireframes to test design concepts before investing in digital solutions. It's a quick and cost-effective way to validate ideas and make informed design decisions.

Style Guide
We wanted to choose a bright and eye-pleasing color palette and readable front, as the application will be used on all phone sizes.
Mockups
Based on the insights from the usability studies, I applied the design changes, including a clear navigation system and search and a more straightforward flow.

By offering users a quick and fun platform to locate their ideal furry friend, this idea seeks to improve product sales and boost conversion rates For over 30%
One potential limitation of the Pet Haven app could be the reliance on accurate and up-to-date information from animal shelters and rescue organizations, as outdated or incomplete data could lead to mismatched pet recommendations and potential user frustration.
